Established in 2048 B.S. by social activists and academicians of this region with an aim to impart quality assured education in affordable cost, Siddhartha Gautam Buddha Campus is one of the leading campuses of province 5 of Nepal. Located at the heart of Butwal Sub Metropolitan City, it has been serving the needs of the students from Rupandehi and districts like Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Kapilbastu, Nawalparasi, Dang, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Syangja, Baglung, Parbat etc. The campus geminated with TU affiliated Humanities programme in intermediate level enrolling 156 students with 16 faculty members and 3 supportive staffs in 2048 BS. At present the campus is catering the needs of approximately 1850 students in Bachelor's and Master's Level programmes. The campus received letter of intent (LOI) to submit the self study report (SSR) on 11 Magh 2071 BS to get involved in Higher Education Reform Project (HERP) of UGC. SGBC signed MOU with UGC on 20th Magh 2072 BS. After the Letter of Intent (LOI) had been received, different committees were formed to prepare SSR report and the report was duly submitted to QAA division of UGC on 21 Bhadra 2074 BS. A pre- visit team led by Prof. Dr. Panna Thapa visited the campus on 21-23 Chaitra 2074 BS. After the campus had rectified the shortcomings recommended by the team, the Peer Review Team led by Prof. Dr. Basudev Kafle visited the campus on 26-30 Ashadh 2075 BS and pointed out some gaps and recommended for further improvement. Finally, a two member follow up team led by Prof. Dr. Basudev Kafle visited the campus on 8-9 Poush 2075 BS and submitted a report to QAAC of UGC. As recommended by the QAAC of UGC, the UGC Board decided to certify the campus for Quality Assurance Accreditation on 16 Poush 2075. According to the guidelines set by QAA, the campus is going to conduct its activities. The campus has set its vision and mission with strategic goals for five years time periods beginning from fiscal year 2072/73. Total number of students enrolled in fiscal year 2073/74, 2074/75 and 2075/76 was 1531, 1460 and 1526 respectively. As compared to education faculty, more numbers of student were enrolled in management faculty. Similarly large numbers of female student were enrolled in relation to male students in each fiscal year. The average pass percentage of students in fiscal year 2073/74, 2074/75 and 2075/76 was 23.48%, 22.95% and 34.31% respectively. Total number of graduates in fiscal year 2073/74, 2074/75 and 2075/76 was 143, 156 and 70 respectively. The faculty member of campus has applied traditional as well as modern teaching pedagogy to teach the students of different programmes. The campus added more and more physical infrastructure, educational aids and equipments, library resources and furniture continuously. The main source of income of this campus is the fee collected from the students and the interest of fixed deposit in different banks. The sum of Rs. 2,88,17,297.00 was collected from the fee of the students in the year 2074/75 and the figure rose to Rs. 3,58,98,014.95 in the year 2075/76. Though high portion of the income is covered by the fee of the students, the grants received from UGC and other donor agencies also play supporting role for the economic sustainability of the campus. The main heading of expenditure of this campus is salary to the faculty members and non teaching staffs.
The sum of Rs. 3,80,77,479.60 was paid to faculty members and non teaching staffs in the year 2074/75 and the figure rose to Rs. 3,94,14,735.00 in the year 2075/76. Shivahari and Company was assigned the responsibility of auditing in order to analyze the accounting system, point out the departures, if any, from the norms and principles of accounting and offer suggestion for improvement. This report includes the audit report, lapses and measures to mitigate the problems. Despite the advancement the campus has made in the recent years, it still has many issues to address and challenges to meet. The challenges like extending infrastructure and academic programmes, increasing pass percentage of the students, assuring placement of students, taking adequate social responsibility, political interference and building up international relationship have become major concerns of the campus. In spite of all these challenges, the campus is marching ahead incessantly preparing five year strategic plan in order to address and meet the short and long term issues and challenges. The campus is aiming to develop itself as an ultimate destination for bright scholars within five years organizing different skill development training both for teachers and students, conducting scheduled extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, establishing link with society and obtaining grants from donor agencies.
